Internet marketing is thought by many to be a new form of marketing, but in reality it is as old as the hills.
For many years the mail order business was the way to reach the masses. Some of the giants of retailing started out as mail order companies. Perhaps the largest is Sears, who at that time was known as Sears and Roebuck.
If you read the history of Sears, it almost reads like a pulp fiction novel and at times a comedy of errors. The company sold almost everything imaginable. Sometimes their products were of questionable value and their marketing practices enough to raise eyebrows.
But, this is not a history or review of Sears or any other company. The point that I’m making here is that the principles of Internet Marketing is nothing new. It is just a new and improved method of reaching the public with whatever you might be marketing.
It has more bells and whistles, but the principles are the same. In either case, mail order or online marketing, you must make good use of eye catching ad copy. You must bring traffic to your business site and you must entice them to buy.
Making money online or offline is basically the same. Just as in the offline business, when you shop online, the buyer must beware. In both worlds one must beware of the two headed snake. The ones that are just out to get a fast buck and leave you with an empty sack.
Fortunately, most business people are on the up and up and can be trusted, but don’t be naive – check things out make sure you are getting your moneys worth.
But, back to the original topic. Online marketing is changing the pattern of everyday shopping. The mailorder business is in its last days. Print media – newspapers, magazines and books are seeing a great decline in popularity. Online banking is the coming thing. Chat rooms and forums are taking the place of house parties and social gatherings.
Yes, the online mindset is in full bloom. So, don’t be left behind. You are probably familiar with chat rooms and forums, but have you thought of turning some of the time that you use surfing, chatting and posting on forums into profit? You can and it’s not as hard as you might think.
With many people the simple word “business” throws them into a tizzy and the are quick to dismiss the idea with a statement such as “Oh, I couldn’t do that.” Or “I don’t have the education for that.”
But, there are high school drop outs earning a fortune online. It’s no different than anything else, you must learn through trial and error. Read and absorb.
Think of all the advantages. No boss. You work at home. Set your own hours. This isn’t just a dream. It’s an actuality. You can start as an affiliate. Let someone else do the selling. You can start part time. Use some of that goofing off time. You could be the next online super star. Online money making is on the rise. It’s the New-Old Frontier, don’t be left behind.
