I went online to get rich – but I was such a jerk
I thought I could make money without any work

I put up a website, all shiny and bright
And then went to bed and slept all night

I just knew that I would be rich when I did arise
But lo and behold much to my surprise

I hadn’t made a dollar not even a nickle
My website had no clicks – not even a tickle

How could this happen I just could not see
When all of the gurus had made a promise to me

Follow their money making advice right to the letter
And my bank account would get bigger and better

I went back and read what the gurus did say
But nothing had changed in any shape or way

My head was spinning and my heart was beating fast
I felt confused and decidely downcast

I jumped from one thing to the next as fast
As a grass hopper when there’s fire in the grass

Some how I knew that there had to be a way
I even tried to sell my mother-in- law on e-bay

I tried every money making thing that I could find
But it seemed that I was just a misfit online

I was beat and exhausted, but I had to succeed
Because I had a wife and two hungry kids to feed

So I pulled myself together and stopped the fuss
You see I’m a determined and hard headed cuss

I read some more and tried again to learn
A quick and easy way to get money to burn

I went back online again to search and to find
If there was someone compassionate and kind

I found this good old boy, just as plain as can be
And what he wrote started to make sense to me

The moral of his tale is that if you want to earn
You have to be willing to work and to learn

Back to the computer I went with a determined eye
And I pecked away as the hours did go by

Soon it became clear what this old boy did say
I started making money and I am to this day

Now every morning I go to my computer with joy
I’m now making quick cash thanks to this good old boy

Good things can happen to you – they happened to me
And I am not the brightest fella you”ll ever see

But, I want to tell you this before I am through
There’s gold in those Internet hills waiting for you

Earning money online is not as easy as it may seem
But never give up and you will realize your dream
